Drop-ins about academic writing

The Libraries are closed at the moment, but you can still chat online with an academic writing advisor. From Monday 30 March, drop-ins about academic writing will be available:

  • Monday to Friday (except on public holidays)
  • 1pm-3pm

What you can expect at drop-ins

  • General advice on strategies that will help to improve your writing
  • Recommendations to online resources or workshops relevant to you
  • Referrals to other student services and people.

What is not covered at drop-ins

Academic writing advisors do not proofread or check student writing. This is in accordance with AUT’s proofreading guidelines for student assessments and the guidelines for the proofreading of postgraduate theses and dissertations.

How to drop in

You will require a computer with:

  • A current version of Google Chrome (Other browsers can be used but Chrome is recommended)

If you’re using Blackboard Collaborate Ultra for the first time (or using it on a particular device for the first time), you will be taken through audio and video set up when you join the session. This is easy to follow.

An academic writing advisor will be available between 1pm and 3pm from Monday to Friday (except on public holidays). For the best online experience, please set up your computer before you join us.
