Level 2 Library services

At Alert Level 2, we're opening up more library services to staff and students. Find more information about each service below.

While the AUT Library is not open for general use, there are resources, guides, workshops and advice accessible online. Have a question? Get in touch through Ask a Librarian.

Study spaces are available at the City, North and South Campus Libraries from Monday to Friday. At this stage, these study spaces are for individual bookings only, not groups. There are two timeslots that you can book for - the AM timeslot (9am-12.30pm) or the PM timeslot (1.30pm-5pm). The Library is cleaned between 12.30-1.30pm. Long-stay study spaces are also being set up. Study space capacity will increase with demand. Check available times and book a spot via the AUT app > My AUT > Bookings.

If you don’t have access to the AUT app, please make a manual booking by calling ICT Support on 0800 AUT ICT (0800 288 428).

Computers can also be booked from ICT via the AUT app.

We are offering a Click & Collect service for the Library physical collection. There is no general access to Library books and we cannot offer Short Loans, Bonus+ or Interloans through Click & Collect.

Here are the steps to request and collect books:

  1. Go to Library Search on the Library home page and find the items that you want to borrow. Request the items as normal – Note: Please allow up to 5 working days for your request to be filled. We'll do our best to fulfil requests but it might not always be possible. We'll let you know if we can't retrieve an item.
  2. You'll receive a confirmation message from AUT Library when your items are ready for collection, with instructions about how to pick them up.
  3. Book a time to collect your items via the AUT App > My AUT > Bookings. Note: We cannot transfer items between campus libraries at the moment, so any items must be collected from the campus library that they're usually shelved at, e.g. if the book is at the North Campus Library, you must travel to the North Campus to collect it.
  4. Scan the QR code at the campus library to check in using the AUT app. Your books will already be issued to you, so just turn up and collect your items.

Books can be returned through the after-hours returns slots. Please return books to the campus library that they belong to. If you can't return them to the correct campus, please hold on to the items for now. Any fines accrued during lockdown will be waived.
