Akoranga Campus Library closed: 16 to 30 November

Te Mātāpuna ki Akoranga/Akoranga Campus Library is closing temporarily. Here’s when, why, and what this means for you.

When is Akoranga Campus Library closed?
From 16 to 30 November 2025. This is after the exam and assessment period concludes, so you’ll be able to study and use library services in person at Akoranga over the assessment weeks.

What library services can I access during the closure?

  • Contact the library team for assistance via library chatemail, or by phone on 09 921 9229
  • Book an onsite research consultation: use our booking form to arrange a consultation in an alternative space on North Campus
  • City and Manukau services continue as usual—check our summer opening hours here

Are any services affected?
We are moving during this two-week period and so some of our services are affected. Between 16th and 30th of November at Akoranga:

  • Te Mātāpuna Library and Learning and IT staff will not be on site
  • Print collections, computers, study spaces and help desk services (for both Library and IT) will not be available.

Can I borrow or return a book from Akoranga Campus Library during the closure?

Moving means the books in the library collection are moving too.

During the closure:

  • Loans and returns at Akoranga will pause—you won’t be able to borrow or return physical books, or pick up books requested from other libraries until after 30 November
  • You will be able to request books, but they won’t be available for pick-up until after 30 November
  • If you need a book urgently, make an interlibrary loan request here and specify either City or Manukau Campus Library as the pick-up location
  • Return your books to City or Manukau Campus Libraries during opening hours.

Before the closure:

  • Collect books requested for pick-up from Akoranga by Thursday 13 November
  • If you want to return borrowed books to Akoranga, make sure you do this by Thursday 13th November.

Where can I study at Akoranga Campus during the closure?

There are some great study spaces. Try the AZ Building or the AE library study spaces.

Why is the temporary closure happening?

Akoranga Campus Library is set to undergo a full internal and external renovation to modernise, upgrade and ensure it is future-ready. The two-week closure is necessary while Te Mātāpuna Library & Learning Services and Tech Central move from the AL building into a temporary space in the AS building while this work is in progress

Moving is no small task, but we’ve timed it to cause as little disruption to your studies as possible. Over the renovation period we’ll run our library services from our temporary home in the AS building—and we’ll let you know more on this soon.
